Background Check Verification Code

Background Check Verification Code

BACKGROUND CHECK VERIFICATION CODE
(Supplement to document titled JDP Background Checks)

If the Current RMO Status for this Member is showing Pending RMO Officer Action, a Verification Code and code explanation will also be provided.

This Verification Code (number only) will also show on the Risk Manager Officer List – Background Checks page. In addition, if the Offenders Returned shows 0, no criminal record was found. If the Offenders Returned shows 1, a potential criminal record was found and should be reviewed by the Risk Management Officer.

If the Verification Code shows a 1, 2, or 3, the RMO should compare the Last name and/or DOB in the member's profile with the one in the report. In most cases, the RMO will need to contact the member about the discrepancy.

  1. If they supplied their legal name on the report, but not in their OMS profile, the OMS profile should be changed to match, and the RMO can Approve (assuming no criminal records were returned).
  2. With DOB errors, if the DOB was wrong in OMS and correct in the background check, the same can be done.
  3. If the member made mistakes in their last name or DOB in their background check, the RMO can decide to allow them to reissue the background check with the correct information.
  1. To authorize the reissuing of the background check, RMO Status should be set to Background Not Checked. This allows the member to go into their account and reorder the background check.
  1. If the RMO cannot reach the individual, or both items are wrong (code 3) and it is deemed unethical, the status can be changed to RMO Denied.
